Board Member of Surrey Care Association

Location: Central office is Dorking, Surrey

Join the Surrey Care Association as a Director of the Board and make a positive impact to the work that we do!

Surrey Care Association is a not for profit membership organisation that represents a vast array of over 200 adult social care providers across Surrey. We are one of the longest standing Care Associations in the country and have a demonstrated track record in working at a local, regional and national level to represent the interests of adult social care providers and the people they support.

A role as part of the Surrey Care Association Board can be a great opportunity to support the development of your career as well as giving something back to adult social Care providers in Surrey.

We are looking for a Board Member that can demonstrate the following:

Experience at a senior leadership level of delivering adult social care
A good working knowledge of the Surrey adult social care system
The ability to demonstrate a collegiate approach with fellow directors, considering the good of our membership as a whole
Experience in working with older person’s care either through home based care or through residential or nursing care homes is particularly desirable

All Candidates must have the following:

Communication and interpersonal skills combined with a collaborative approach
Ambition to drive forward a high quality and financially sustainable adult social care market in Surrey
A commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging and environmental sustainability.
Ability to uphold and role model the standards expected of a Surrey Care Association board member
The ability to influence and negotiate with key senior members of the Surrey system from the NHS and from the County Council.

This role will also sit on our overall Board as well as the opportunity to attend relevant sub-committees, and network meetings.

We are particularly interested in applications from people with experience in Older Persons’ care and/or people with experience in Home Based, Nursing or Residential Care Home settings. We wish to further increase representation from ethnic minoritised communities, LBGTQ+ and people with a disability on our Board.

There is a commitment of four 2 hour Board meetings per year, attendance at conferences twice a year and the opportunity to get involved in further sub committees and network meetings depending upon your particular skill set and interests.

The successful candidate will formally begin their role as a Board Member in October 2024 at the Surrey Care Association Annual General Meeting.

You will be supported by nine other Board members who have experience in several different aspects of adult social care leadership, as well as an experienced and hardworking CEO and team of 6 paid staff, who undertake the operational delivery and strategy development supported by the Boards oversite, scrutiny, and creative input.
