‘National Care Service’ part of major NHS Reforms

Cross party support and Fair Pay Agreement needed says PM in speech

Speaking on Professor Lord Darzi’s independent investigation into the state of the NHS, Prime Minister Keir Starmer has referred to a ‘National Care Service’ as part of the major reforms needed following the report.

The independent investigation was commissioned by the government in the Summer.

Despite the investigation having a clear brief to look at the NHS System in isolation, the report conclusions show that social care has to be considered in order to improve services.

In his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted that cross party support and enabling a Fair Pay Agreement for social care staff would be vital as part of the plans.

We will continue to keep you updated on all sector developments as part of this announcement as they happen and will be monitoring the outcomes of these commitments over the coming weeks.
