Care work is meaningful. It’s all about that human connection.

It offers decent pay at entry level roles, with many employers paying more than minimum wage. You will receive training and there are opportunities to progress further if you want to. There are often flexible shifts available for carers and support workers, so it can fit in with the rest of your life.

You will be part of a team of dedicated people working in an important job with lots of variety.

The best way to find out is to get involved! You could volunteer in a care home, or pick up Bank Shifts with a homeware agency and see what you think.

The next best way to get a feel for what is actually involved in a care and support job? Watch our short films featuring real people working in care in Surrey!

In the videos they share their story and tell us more about what their job involves day to day.

For example, Karina is a Senior Carer. She works for a home care service, looking after people in their own homes. She meets lots of different people and looks forward to seeing them each day. In a job like Karina’s it helps to be interested in people and to have a positive attitude.

My favourite thing about working in social care is meeting new people. You meet different age groups, different experiences. You hear different stories.
